Propool 5065 Surface Preparation and Application Guide
Surface Preparation
-
Ensure that the application surface is sound, dry, load-bearing, dust-free, clean, and level.
-
Thoroughly clean the surface of any oil, grease, rust, and paraffin residues that would weaken adhesion, and ensure there are no loose particles.
-
Repair defective surfaces with a depth of 5 to 20 mm using MODEW Repair Mortars two days in advance.
-
Moisten the application surface if its temperature exceeds $+25\text{ }^\circ\text{C}$.
-
Apply Modew Primer on gypsum-based surfaces, high-absorption gypsum plasterboard, plaster, aerated concrete, lime plaster, and chipboard, and begin bonding 5 minutes after priming.
-
For wood-particle-based surfaces (OSB and chipboards), ensure the boards contain a maximum of %10 moisture, with a minimum thickness of $25\text{ mm}$ for floors and $19\text{ mm}$ for walls.
-
Screw boards to the surface at $30\text{ cm}$ intervals, maintaining at least an $8\text{ mm}$ gap at joint connections, and fill joint locations with Joint Sealing Mastic.
-
Prime chipboards in dry environments with WALLBOND 5001 Primer, or apply Fully Flexible Waterproofing Material in two coats with mesh reinforcement if exposed to moisture (exterior facades).
Application
-
Apply a $1\text{ mm}$ thick layer of PROPOOL 5065 to the application surface using the flat side of the trowel.
-
Comb PROPOOL 5065 in a single direction using the notched side of the trowel to achieve uniform thickness within the 30-minute open time limit.
-
When bonding tiles or granites of varying thicknesses, or to close surface irregularities, apply a $1\text{ mm}$ layer of mortar under each individual piece.
-
Float the tiles or granites into the mortar to ensure complete contact with PROPOOL 5065.
-
Complete the application by leaving recommended joint spacers appropriate for the ceramic or granite size, and fill these joints using FUGA SIL 5020 Joint Fillers after approximately 24 hours.
