Ecofix 5000

Surface Preparation

  • Care must be taken to ensure that the application surface is sound, dry, load-bearing, dust-free, clean, and also level.

  • The surface must be thoroughly cleaned from any oil, grease, rust, and paraffin residues that would weaken adhesion, and there should be no loose particles on the surface.

  • Defective surfaces with a depth of 5 to 20 mm must be repaired with MODEW Repair Mortars two days in advance.

  • If the temperature of the surface to be applied is above +25°C, the surface must be dampened.

Application

  • A 1 mm thick layer of ECOFIX 5000 is applied to the application surface using the flat side of the trowel.

  • ECOFIX 5000 is pulled in a single direction with the notched side of the trowel to achieve a uniform thickness over an area that can be covered within the 20-minute open time.

  • When bonding tiles or ceramics of different thicknesses, it is recommended to apply a 1 mm thick layer of mortar under each tile or ceramic to cover irregularities on the application surface.

  • While placing the tiles or ceramics into position, the tile or ceramic is floated within the mortar to ensure complete contact with ECOFIX 5000.

  • The application is completed by leaving the recommended joint spacing according to the appropriate tile or ceramic size.

  • MODEW 5020 Joint Fillers should be used to fill the left joint spaces.

  • Grouting of the joints can be started after approximately 24 hours.
